Singapore Adventures - Day 1

The MRT (underground) had lights!!!  Red to
show where you are, green to show where you're
going... For some reason this totally blew my mind!
Though it's only an hour or so for the actual flight, overall travel time was much much more - an hour to get to the airport, customs, security, immigration, walking all over the place to figure out which of Kuala Lumpur's airport terminals you need to be in (KLIA or KLIA 2)...

We flew Scoot airline... yup, scooted right out of KL for the weekend!

Took the T (MRT) to close to our hotel, got settled, and walked around.  The extreme heat and humidity wore us out pretty quickly, but we got to see some amazing stuff!

On our first night's adventure, outside of our
hotel (Naumi, a quirky boutique hotel where I
couldn't find the room numbers... cos they weren't
on the doors at all!  They were on the floor...
how's that for a brain twister?!)

This was only on the green line, though.  Of course, as expected,
the T was exceptionally clean, and they had people exiting
first before others jammed in to enter.   Civility CAN be taught....! :)
The Helix Bridge

The big flower-like shape on the left here is an art installation
where they project various light patterns on it - pretty neat.  One of
the big challenges we found, other than the inanely hot and
humid weather, was the "you can't get there form here" traffic
patterns which I've also encountered in KL.  Wide roads, long
blocks, and unintuitive access points...

This was cool - walking by, it sounds like this is a wall of
water cascading down;  getting closer, you see it's actually
a bunch of metal strips with air blowing over them that
make that loud whoosing noise
We lucked out and made it to the Supertrees
right as the evening light show was happening
We sat across the lagoon on the steps and watched,
dripping wet from the not-terribly-long walk
to get there in the super humid evening.  It was
so so cool!  My main reason for coming to
Singapore, and totally worth it.

Really magical...

The view to the side, with fountains, some of
of the supertrees, and the flyer in the back

The Sands hotel, the famous Singapore view;
I didn't realize that you're allowed to go to the
top without staying there, or we totally would
have...!  (You are apparently not, however,
allowed to swim in the pool without staying at
the overpriced hotel)
We got closer, and got to see the supertrees from a parapet;  sadly,
the walkway had already closed.

Supertrees in the daytime!

The Singapore Flyer - we walked there, but on
a Saturday night it seemed closed - no tickets,
few people around, and not moving... oh well!
