Moments in Time

My hotel pool at night - sweeeeeet! :)  (Note the top of one of the Petronas towers in the background)

I love the view down from the 75th floor when the outside fountain is on!  (usually at lunchtime and dinnertime, when they also add pretty lights)

Made my first mail-order purchase (though had to ask a co-worker for help, cos the site wouldn't let me enter my actual billing address to be checked against my credit card...) - no, silly, not dinner;  I got an immersion blender, so now I can make delicious gazpacho whenever I want!  Whee! :)

Went to Starbucks for the first time;  saw this strageness (though didn't quite have it in me to try it...) "butterfly pea lemonade"???  The name just doesn't compute for a Westerner... I may be brave later and give it a try! :)

A cute cafe (Ojo) in Bukit Bintang, a near-suburb that has a lot of expats.  I loved how the Western girl with the laptop was chatting up (at length) the Malaysia woman with the laptop. :)

"Fying Cow" ice cream place at the mall.  Really not sure why it has a horn, but... pretty cute!

Walked through Jalan Alor, which is the outdoor food stall street.  Here - dim sum!

It comes alive at night (where "comes alive" means not only opens, but also gets insanely crowded).  Not great ambiance for sitting and reading with supper, but definitely planning a group outing in the near future

You pick which place you want to get your food from, and then find your seating;  I was only at the outer edge, and it was just after dark, so there were still empty seats available.

Another view.  Looking forward to getting some delicious and cheap eats here!  I'm definitely finding that while "cheap and good" often do go together here, "cheap, good, and nice place to sit and read" sadly don't. :)

Jalan Ceylon - a "block of bars" - tho there's restaurants there, too.  Though cars are not allowed technically on this block, some still get through, as do some motos.
Browsing at the half price bookstore

Oh, this was my sad sad embarrassing tale of the horrible haircut... I looked at the prices, naturally assuming the lower/normal end, but they took one look at my (Western, tourist) face and gave me the highest priced everything, including "the guy";  ended up spending ridiculous amount for a highly mediocre haircut - that I then had to go back to get fixes cos "the guy" didn't really listen to me the first time around;  and then when they fixed it (the main guy wasn't around) they did something weird to where I had to clip off little awkward bits on my own at home...  Lesson learned!  Oy vey!

Yup, they really do "all" holidays (natch, nothing even remotely Jewish in the mix) - but we have all the local stuff, and then we had Chinese new year, above is Easter (despite a negligible xtian population in West Malaysia);  the bars naturally keyed in on St. Paddy's day;  and then Sakura.  It's all pretty, though.

I love that I have a "usual" at "my place" - not only do they know me, they know my favorite table, and my order (salmon bagel) - including drink ("queen bee", which is an awesome lightly carbonated concoction with honey and red grapefruit) and that I like my salad with dressing on the side, and sometime a side of scrambled eggs too :)  Funny! - But delicious!

Pretty cherry tree decorations in the mall

  1. Yep, you are becoming a local of sorts -- they know your usual. Not bad. Miss you...
